The real question is what other factors help to create these seriously demented beings. We cannot possibly believe that the result of an unhappy or abused childhood is the sole result, which leads an individual down the path to become a serial killer. Many people have not experienced an emotionally unhealthy childhood, however they have gone on to lead a well balanced productive life as an adult. In my essay, I will make use of arguments from the heart, as well as, value-based decisions as to why I do not agree with the author's point of view. Simply having a poor family environment or being abused in any manner cannot cause you to become a serial killer. This theory is not completely proven in the passage. She also expresses a recent study that strongly suggests that killers are genetic. Another theory Beaty used was that a mass murderer can come from being in a violent atmosphere. Beaty also uses another popular theory that simply suggests that a violent society was the cause of many people becoming serial killers. They are most likely to be males and 92 percents are white. She stated that a serial killer could look like or be anything they choose to become.
